Tracking the Election

To me I think that the map shows how close the election really was. By looking at the map you can tell that Obama won most of the Northeast and Midwest and some parts of the West while McCain got most of the Southwest and the most of the mid states. Now it might look like McCain won more states then Obama, but for a fact McCain won all the states with the least electoral votes, so he cold have won more but it doesn't matter because Obama is still getting more votes. In the end with 62,608,702 (52.3%) popular votes Obama took down McCain who had 55,542,743 (46.4%) popular votes, which shows that more people like Obama no matter how many states McCain won. As for the electoral votes, which was 349 Obama to 162 McCain. That show that you could win all of the little electoral states but it won't really get you anywhere you want to be. Which is why every candidate tries so hard to win the big important states, like California and Texas. By winning more of the higher electoral states he insured his spot as our next president until the next election in 2012!!
